Un dernier disque avant la fin du monde ?

Le nouvel album de Nesles pourrait être celui-là. Après l’organique et flamboyant Permafrost, Arsenic dévoile une autre facette de son auteur, qui en contient une multitude - acteur, dandy-punk hyperactif nourri de rock indépendant autant que de littérature, activiste d'une certaine scène francophone, avec le Festival, les Soirées et le Café Walden... En s’imprégnant de ces multiples personnalités, l’album lève le voile sur un monde étrange que l'on regarde se consumer en dansant. Une expérience qui vous absorbe.

Et dont personne ne sortira indemne.

Sous l’emprise de cette improbable potion, on perd pied, on achoppe. Dans une dérivation constamment chancelante entre ombre et crépuscule, Arsenic s’immisce alors dans vos veines avec une acuité toxique. De ce venin de luxe, on tète goulûment chaque goutte jusqu'à la lie.

Réalisé une nouvelle fois par Alain Cluzeau, Arsenic creuse plus profond encore le sillon qu’avait commencé à dessiner Permafrost. En explorant les recoins de sonorités rock ou folk échouées sur les rives électroniques, Arsenic fait le choix de ne pas choisir. Entre l’organique et le numérique. Entre le jour et la nuit. Entre la terre et le ciel. Les participations de Matt Swanson (Lambchop), d’Armelle Pioline (Superbravo) ou d’une chorale d’enfants parachèvent l’échafaudage subtil d’un édifice sonore en clair-obscur.

Dans un dernier paradoxe, l’album dévoile d’ailleurs, sous ses sombres atmosphères, une énergie, une soif de vivre, un élan qui jaillit au coeur des cendres.

Mieux qu’un poison. L’ultime antidote.
